Rooted firmly in the understanding reading enjoyment is a greater predictor of future success than socio-economic status, Bookmark’s mission is for every child to read. Partnering with schools across the UK, they provide volunteer-lead one-to-one reading support; supply them with Your Story Corner, a carefully curated starter-library; and distribute specially created magazines for children to have literature outside of school-time. Their multidimensional approach not only instils key skills and confidence, it aims at helping children discover the joy of reading to give them the futures they deserve to have.
The Symondson Foundation has committed to helping them roll-out Your Story Corner to schools in Leicester, funding book-packs for 56 schools.
